In Unit 12 we learn about teaching productive skills, which are speaking and writing. Within the speaking skills we have both accuracy activities and fluency activities, and both are equally important. It makes sense that the accuracy activities would take place during the study phase, and the fluency activities would take place in the activate phase where they can get creative with the language they are learning. I like the lesson idea for writing because I can imagine it being difficult to teach writing with ESL. I was surprised to learn that writing is often neglected in the TEFL world, because I find writing so essential. It makes sense that teachers prefer to keep the class talking and using the language to correct any errors. Writing can certainly be used as homework, but I love the cartoon strip lesson in pairs. It's a fun way to activate that writing rather than to send it home where it could become a frustration.
