This unit was about classroom management, the many factors involved in achieving it and the importance of it. It is a skill that requires organization and managing the classroom through a friendly and relaxed manner. Raising voices does not do any good, nor losing tempers. Eye contact, gestures and voice has both healthy and unhealthy or inappropriate ways to be used. There are pros and cons to whole class groupings, individual student time and pair work and it is important to know the differences. How chairs and furniture is positioned is important as well as the positioning of the teacher. Teacher talking time should be limited, clear and concise and using simple language, being consistent and using visual clues in giving instructions are good ways to get your point across. Establishing rapport with students can hold weight to how the entire year will go!
