This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit went over how to teach students from different groups, other than what has previously been discussed in former lessons, for example, teaching to business English students, individuals, small children who are beginning learners and also multi-lingual classes where the students do not all speak the same native language. The most important aspect of what I learned in the unit is that knowing the needs of the students I am teaching is essential. Assessing what the learning level is helps me as a teacher to mold the lesson plan to what the students need to focus on most, especially with business English classes and individual 1-on-1 lessons. The activities used in large classes will not always be useful in 1-on-1 lessons and there are advantages and disadvantages to both. I also learned that correcting all mistakes is not as important in beginning learners as there is more of a need to build confidence in the students to continue to participate in the learning process.
