This unit is about classroom management in a friendly, relaxed manner and maintaining discipline. It teaches us how eye contact can be used in classroom and why good use of gestures can be effective and useful. The voice of teacher also plays an important role to convey the message through the class. There are different ways to group the class effectively and each one has its pros and cons. Wholeclass, pairwork and groupwork are some examples of class groupings. The teacher's position is as important as the eye contact while giving the lesson. The teacher should be standing and moving around while giving the lesson but can sit when the students are reading or performing a group activity. While writing on the board, the teacher should turn his/her back to class as less as possible. The teacher talk time should be less and the student talk time should be more. The teaching language should be simple and basic. There are number of ways to build rapport and maintain discipline among the students given in this unit.
