It is important to know the structure and usage of each tense so that students can properly understand how to express an event or something that happened to them in the past or is continuing to happen. It is important for a student to have the knowledge of these sentence structures and be practiced in using them correctly or they might communicate the wrong thing. It is also extremely important for teachers to understand how the present tense is formed so that students mistakes are easy to spot and easy to correct in a simple way.
