Productive Receptive Skills/why Speak - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

So, we'll focus first of all on a speaking skills lesson and perhaps a starting point for this would be to ask a question which is: Why do we speak to each other? The reason that it's important to ask ourselves this question is that whatever answers there are to this should be present in our lessons. So, why do we speak to each other? Well, there are a multitude of answers to that but when you boil them all down to their essence, they probably actually come down to one or two things. We communicate to each other by speaking because of either a need. We need something. We want something or a desire to achieve something. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into...  [Read more]

Productive Receptive Skills/accuracy Vs Fluency - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

Before we move on to the planning of a lesson for speaking skills, something that we need to look at first is the idea of the accuracy versus the fluency of speaking. Accuracy relates to the correct usage of grammar and vocabulary, whereas fluency relates to our ability to continue speaking without any interruption. Now, ultimately within a whole ESA lesson or within language learning itself fluency and accuracy are equally important. Within an ESA lesson, however, depending upon which stage we're at in that lesson, then we're either focusing on accuracy or we're focusing on fluency. Remember in the ESA lesson, in the study phase, this is where we're looking at the target language where we're doing our language learning, so it's very important in this stage that we focus on the...  [Read more]

However, we as ESL teachers or would be ones need these videos in order to get a clue of what actually happens in a real classroom situation, and judge by our own standards which one needs amendments and which needs strengthening. It's therefore obvious that the same teacher happens to...  [Read more]

Bring Vs Take English Grammar Teaching Tips - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL-TESOL Courses

This video focuses on the difference between the usage of "bring" and "take". These two words often cause confusion, especailly for English learners. It is important to consider the direction in order to determine which word to use. The word "bring" describes the movement of something toward a specified location, such as in this sentence: Can you bring some snacks to the party tonight? The word "take" on the other hand generally describes the movement of something away from a location, such as here: Do you want to take any leftovers home? The first, is an example of a poorly presented lesson in grammar to ESL students. During the lesson the instructor does not build rapport with the students and doesn't bother to learn their names. He also delivers the lesson without smiling throughout the entire lesson. He begins the lesson speaking quickly and talking about grammar concepts that are beyond the students understanding. It is clear that the students are confused but...  [Read more]

It had very good advice for first lessons. That was something not really told to me and I had some bumpy first lessons when I first started teaching. Your first couple of lessons should be fun and a way to formulate trust in the classroom. ESL students need a 'safe' place to practice English and make mistakes. This is how we learn so I establish right from the start that no one makes fun of anyone in this classroom. This is the place we make...  [Read more]

I found the first video extremely difficult to watch. Especially because I did not know that it was a \"staged\" class and thought that it was an actual ESL instructor who appeared to dislike his job and the students. My immediate thought while watching it was that this man had no business being a teacher. He did not smile at his students, he spoke too rapidly and was even...  [Read more]
