Unit 13 focused on teaching pronunciation and phonology. This unit was a bit more complex and specific, which was necessary since teachers do not look at this area in a structured way. Phonology - the study o the physical properties of sound, including intonation, stress and rhythm were taught. Intonation patterns include rise/fall, fall/rise and flat intonation. Stress: the strong part of a sentence that indicates meaning, can e taught using contrastive stress, gestures, the board, stress marks and choral work. The phonetic alphabet and symbols were also explored. Articulation involving physical organs an specific places of articulation is another topic in this unit.
