Teaching students how to pronounce English words is crucial yet often left out of typical English classes. Teachers may not feel confident about how to teach pronunciation. This chapter detailed several approaches and things to be aware of. I appreciated the section on phonemes, as well as the information about stresses. I am still looking for more recommended approaches to teach phonemes, though this is a great place to start.This unit was quite a lot of information to dive into. Testing, assessments, evaluations and syllabus design all lumped into one unit was somewhat overwhelming. I feel as though syllabus design could be its own unit. There could have been more detail on the types of syllabus and what they are used for. Otherwise, this was a good section to introduce a prospective teacher into the different testing methods and how they are used.
