Receptive skills are reading and listening.We read and listen for so many reasons but we can divide these reasons into tow categories which are :for a purpose, for entertainment.While reading and listening we use a variety of skills including predictive skills, scanning for a specific information, skimming for a general idea, deduction from a context, detailed information.To avoid the possible problem that may arise while teaching receptive skills the teacher should get his/her students engaged and interested before the start of the lesson, pre-teach unknown vocabulary that may hinder the students proper understanding, try to choose a variety of topics that may be of interest to the students, carefully choose texts that are suitable for the level of your students.
