What has helped me the most in Unit 7 is to think about the different types of activities that teachers can use in the different ESA portions of a lesson. In the past I have often followed textbook exercises (and teacher guides); while many of those exercises are similar to the ones recommended in this unit, I have often not thought about the reason for using them. Thus, I now feel more aware about what is happening in the classroom, which will also help me to monitor students' progress. One area I am not sure about is how to apply the ESA structure to middle school reading circles.In this unit, I learnt the different ways of managing a class, such as the appropriate amount of teacher talk time as well as the students, in order to make the environment a conducive and effective one for new learners when they are learning a new language, so that they would not lose motivation. This unit also taught me the most effective ways to establish rapport with the students, as well as recommended classroom arrangement settings to make the environment as intimate and conducive as possible for students to be able to learn, remember and share information better among each other
