Like the previous unit did for the passive skills, this unit delved into the productive skills aspect of language learning. It discussed writing and speaking. It gave some ideas about difficulties students might have with learning how to write in English, especially if their own writing system is very different from the English system. It also mentioned difficulties in teaching writing skills, as writing often takes quite a lot of time and is perceived as less fun than speaking.I found the unit on productive skills enlightening. Accuracy activities being for language correctness and fluency activities allowing more creativity, with one being as important as the other. The teacher can play a very important role with the students, especially in creating a comfortable atmosphere for them. Encouraging them to be creative, to speak up, all this building their confidence and if errors are corrected in a gentle manner the students won?t feel self-conscious.
