This unit covers troubleshooting problems or challenges that may arise for teachers in the classroom. First lessons can be tricky for new teachers and using the lesson book or class book should be avoided. It is important for the teacher to establish rapport with the students and between the students themselves right off the bat. Using a 'warmer' activity is a good way to get all the students interacting and engaging with the lesson. The first lesson is also when the teacher can find out about the students themselves and what they are seeking out of an English course. Large classes are another challenge teachers can face as it may be overwhelming and difficult to involve and get to know all the students equally. However, teachers can use this as an advantage too to utilize a lot of group work and have many different opinions and characters from the class to keep things humorous and exciting.
