Business English Unit 3 covered topics related t o evaluating students' needs and expectations, and then how to structure a course based upon those needs and expectations. The unit describes a procedural process to accomplish the goal of structuring the course to best meet the students' needs and expectations, starting with level testing to assess each students' current English proficiency, then progressing to a needs analysis to determine previous learning experience, how the student will use English on the job, and to determine areas of study the students feel would be of benefit to them. Based upon the needs identified, and any requirements stated by the students' employer, or the school itself, a flexible syllabus can be constructed. Finally, this unit recommends an end-of-course assessment that the instructor may use to identify areas that need improvement or adjustment
