This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit dealt with the 4 past tense forms: Past Simple, Past continuous, Past perfect, Past perfect continuous. It is very similar to the previous grammar topic that covered the present tense.
I learnt more specific use cases for each tense as well as common mistakes that students when learning this topic. Now that I have a better technical understanding of each of the tenses myself, I'm better equipped to aid students past these roadblocks as well as more capable of answering specific technical questions that students may have (for example: why is this tense used in this particular situation, why is a particular verb form used.. etc.)
That said, I still believe these topics can be very confusing and unintuitive. For many, perfecting the use of the correct tense and verb form takes a lot of practice and memorization.
