I have learned that the past tense is formed of the the simple tense, the past continuous, the past perfect, and the past perfect continuous tense, with all showing its affirmative, negative and question form. It has the same structure of the present tense but the difference is only that it relates to the past time periods. All principles applying to present tense also feature to the past tense. It is also showing its grammatical make up and usage. It is important to mention that there are two types of verbs in the past simple tense, that is, the regular verb (created by adding -ed or -d) and irregular verb that is (not created by adding -ed) but also there is no rule to say how irregular verb is formed
