This unit went over the use of created and authentic materials, with created materials being designed by teachers that either replace or supplement activities from authentic materials which are things that are used in everyday life eg. newspapers, songs etc.
The advantages and disadvantages of using course books were also stated.
Advantages included providing an outline for lessons and security for teachers and students.
Disadvantages included the teacher becoming lazy and less creative and the possibility of students not being able to afford course books.
Omitting, replacing, supplementing and adapting course book lessons were explained to help aid teachers with the use of course books without relying on them completely.
