This unit covered how to teach new language to non-native English learners. It explained the criteria for selecting vocabulary for a lesson as well as what a student should know about new vocabulary. The unit also gave in depth information about how to structure vocabulary based lessons using a straight arrow ESA lesson plan. The second half of the unit included what students would need to know about grammatical structures in a lesson. The unit provided examples of a boomerang and a patchwork ESA lesson plan for grammar based classes. In addition to showing samples of some different types of lesson plans within the ESA structure the unit gave some helpful activity ideas that could be used in the engage, study, and activate stages. In conclusion, this unit has given invaluable information on how to effectively build lessons on vocabulary and grammar.
