This unit was about classroom management. It detailed the different considerations classroom setup, teacher behavior to promote a rapport, student behaviors and possible causes and teachers' possible responses to behavior problems. Before I started teaching in Korea I was substitute teaching in the US. Discipline problems did vary, but were definitely more pronounced when a teacher didn't have the time to build a rapport. I agree that the motivation for being in the class also strongly effects discipline. I work at a university and part-time at a hagwon (after school private schools that focus on specific subjects, in Korea). The children from the hagwon are forced to go by their parents and their interest levels vary from student to student. Plus, they're children. The university students tend to not have many disciplinary problems. Or rather, no egregious displays of defiance. It's good to understand behavior issues and how to respond effectively.
