Another point that students find difficult to understand is that modal auxiliary verbs have no tense. Some modals cannot be used to talk about the past or the futures. Watch this video to find out more about this topic.
Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
I have always hated exams. I believe that I overthink the questions. I took a short course on test taking, and it was very helpful in that I learned testing pacing, how to eliminate wrong answers from multiple choice questions and how to budget my time studying for these tests. This unit covered the four aspects of the past tense and their various uses and forms. I found it very helpful to already have an understanding of the aspects and forms of the present tense before studying this unit because so much of this unit builds on the present tense unit. This unit is a little confusing as there far too many intricacies to the grammar patterns that are not fully explained. I found the gerunds section to contain far too few examples. However, as I have been looking into parts of speech for my older kids, the unit is enlightening.
