TESOL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Olesia
In this TESOL review video Olesia discusses her experience on one of ITTT’s online courses. Olesia would recommend ITTT to anyone wanting to become an English teacher. After completing the course Olesia made use of ITTT’s lifetime job support and received information to help with her job search. She has also been able to put what she learned on the course to use in her private English classes.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
In short, this unit described effective roles and qualities in teachers and students. This unit has taught me that being an effective educator requires one to do more than standing in front of a class and instruct during the entire class period. An educator has to be able to adapt their role and approach in the classroom to ensure that students are feeling comfortable and engaged with the course material, as well as with their fellow classmates. As described in the unit text, an educator's role and approach in a classroom will heavily depend on the age and skill level of the students they are instructing. Naturally, students of different ages differ in their motivation, behavior, ability, and confidence, and an instructor should understand these differences, so that they can adjust accordingly. Lastly, there are an array of reasons a student could be learning English as a foreign language, and this could heavily influence a student's drive to succeed.
