  • What does the tuition for the program include?

    The TESOL course includes course materials and certification. Airfares, accommodation and food are not included.

    Refunds and cancellation fees:

  • What is an average program day like?

    Class starts at 9:00am and ends at 3:00pm, with a 15 minute personal break and a 30 minute break for lunch. During the first two weeks we will look at teaching methodologies, grammar, vocabulary, classroom management, error correction and feedback techniques.

    The final two weeks of the course have a more practical focus as trainees prepare for their assessed lessons. This period of the course also involves lesson planning, pronunciation, phonology, researching different teaching resources and making appropriate use of technology.

  • How many students are on average in the program?

    We have small class with around 4 to 6 students in each class. Most of our trainees are from South Africa but fluent non-native English speakers are welcome from all over the world.

  • What are the teaching practice students and classes like?

    Our general English students at the school come from all around the world, from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, Italy and many more. As the classes are free for the students to attend, they are always keen to take part and work hard.

  • What is the program accommodation like? Where is it located?

    The accommodation options are minutes away from the training center. Host families and backpackers are the most popular choice amongst participants. Backpacker lodges are self-catering, whereas the host families offer meals, Wi-Fi and laundry.

  • Can I have things shipped or mailed to the school?

    We do not accept any student deliveries. Students are advised to have their mail delivered to their accommodation.

  • What is the TEFL job market in Cape Town like?

    Although the number of English language institutions has grown over the last few years, the job market remains moderate in Cape Town and the salaries that teachers receive are quite low. Our graduates often find jobs overseas once they have completed the course. During the waiting period of finding a job the graduated student can do volunteering work at the school they studied at or elsewhere. There are, however, few people who get lucky when applying for jobs in Cape Town, so it’s always worth a shot.

  • What’s the climate like? What kind of clothing do I need to bring?

    Cape Town’s weather can be unpredictable, but winter is usually wet and cool while the summer is dry and warm.

    If you want to come to Cape Town during the winter, it is best to pack warm clothes and comfortable shoes, although temperatures do not drop below 10°c.

    Summer is the best time to visit Cape Town. The average temperature is about 24°c and 14°c at night.
